The magical waterfalls of Neuchâtel

Neuchâtel is a beautiful Canton in Switzerland. From mountain to lake and going through multiple forests and villages you will find what you are looking for!

What I particularly love is all the waterfalls, rivers and gorges it hides!

What about you? want to discover them? Below you will find them listed with a short description on how to find them!

  • Gorge de l’Areuse

Difficulty: Moderate

11.4 km long, 334 m altitude difference between Boudry and Noiraigue for a total hike of about 3 h.

Open all year long, quite slippery after rain (take good shoes). On the way you will find the Bat museum and a nice restaurant in Champ-du-moulin as well as the famous saut du brot.

  • Gorges de la Poëta-Raisse

Starting point : Môtiers train station

Duration :  Atleast 2h30 min

Difficulty : Easy – medium

The entry of the gorges is about 10 minutes away from the train station.

Before you venture along the trail of the hike, make sure to take the 5 min detour to the Jean-Jacques Rousseau waterfalls and the Môtier cave.

The actual hike for Poëta-Raisse is well maintained, relatively easy and presents only one steep elevation gain.

While the beginning of the hike is relatively normal from a landscape point of view, you will very soon reach a beautiful gorge pass with a series of waterfalls and lifted trails and brides that will make your trek feel like an adventure!

If you are lucky, you will find on your way the famous Absinthe fountain that is hidden along the path!

Curious about that fountain?
