Les Cabanes de Marie

Les Cabanes de Marie is the place where you will feel like back in your childhood but with all the comfort you would expect from a conventional hotel.

Located in the canton of Vaud, french speaking part of Switzerland, les Cabanes de Marie consists of small domain of forest within which you can find 3 tree huts and 1 old caravan which has been refurbished into a super romantic room with private garden and bridge to enjoy your breakfast and dinner.

The owners are very friendly and will take good care of you so that your stay will be unique and amazing!

Now let’s get into more details!

How to get there?

The hotel is located in Ogens, Switzerland. The closest train station is Yverdon and from there you will have to take a postal bus to reach Ogens (lucky for you, it’s a direct line)

Alternatively, you can easily reach that place by car. By car you will also have more flexibility to discover the area around!

Accommodation

The hotel consists of 3 Tree top huts and one old trailer that has been pimped into a cozy home. The huts all contain toilets (dry), beds, tables and a balcony to eat outside. One hut goes up to 6 beds ! while the others have 4 sleeping places. They are all different and unique! some have two stories, some have a balcony with chickens and goats and so on. The 4th is not a tree hut but consists of two old wooden trailers that have been refurbished into cozy rooms (one for kids, one for “adults”)  and which are located into a beautiful “private” garden.

That last one is where we spent the night. The “parental” trailer contains everything you could need (table, heater, bed) and even a toilet with garden view. That place is very romantic and really gives you a break from your daily life.

The showers and toilets (for larger deliveries ;D) are centralized into another building where you can also find drinks food and other local products for purchase.

Meals

While breakfast is included, the dinner can be ordered as an extra. There are different options available and all come served into a basket that is deposited close to your hut.

In our case, close to the trailers, we had two options to eat: on a private bridge (option we took for the dinner) or in a “greenhouse” originally thought for planting vegetables but decorated now with a table, chairs and candles (option we took for the breakfast).

What we really enjoyed is the fact that all the products that are served come from local suppliers and producers. You can really taste the quality and love in detail placed and served in your basket.

Aside from the rooms and food

The place itself has some other great features that will make your stay exceptional.

First of all, it hosts multiple animals, ranging from bunnies to horses and going through chickens and goats.

Secondly it has a Nordic bath, a sauna and a river where you can swim and cool down.

The hotel organizes also different fun events (on a demand basis) ranging from visiting bee hives to taking care of farm animals.

Summary

Considering all the points, that place is really worth visiting. Without being a luxury escape, it still has all the comfort you would expect for a reasonable place (given country, location and originality of the place you will stay).

The owners put a lot of effort into details (going from choice of local food, decoration of the huts and proposed activities on site) and make sure your stay will be unforgettable and unique. Regardless of your age or if you are a family, everybody will find his place.

Additional details

As you are visiting a place located among trees and farms, make sure you have proper shoes.

While the huts have a local heating system, it might get a bit chilly during dinner or breakfast – take appropriate clothes.

Leave your worries at home and enjoy the stay!
