The hike can be considered as moderate depending on your hiking experience. Total hike is 6 hours (feasible in 5 or a bit less) back and forth without break at the lake.
If you start the day early enough (start hiking before 10 am) you can make the most out of it!
Make sure to take swimwear and a towel along your journey!

The hike begins at the Parking du Flon in Vouvry. From there you have a quite steep 45 minutes ascent to reach the lake. The path is rocky and dusty so you might wanna avoid flipflops (yes, I saw everything). Also take enough water as it gets quite hot there!
After that first section, you will reach the lake of Taney, sitting there among the mountains. I must admit, I was quite surprised how many houses were built around that lake. A bit sad but well..the easy access and its beauty took over wisdom to leave that place wild.
You will have restaurants and hotels up there where you can spend the night. Make sure to enjoy some time around the lake, the water is fresh but sooo good during hot days!
Please make sure to take your trash with you, avoid littering! As it is very touristy and easy to access, you can be surprised what people leave there (sad…)
From the lake and it’s “village” (if we can call it so) you have multiple hiking possibilities that start.
Two nice hikes bring you to the Grammont and the Jumelles.
As we did not have time for both, we chose to hike to the top of Grammont. That hike takes you another 2 hours to reach the top!
As the whole area is a natural protected area (so yes, no fire, no camping, no littering, no shouting, keep your dogs leached and so on) you will be amazed to encounter wildlife on your path. We spotted a couple of marmots and ibexes at distances of 2 m. However, this is only possible if people respect the rules in place. I saw a few hikers with unleashed dogs that scared local ibexes. For sake of that environment and the very few natural reserve these animals have left, I beg you to respect it.

If you take headlamps or spend the night in the village of Taney, you can take some extra time to enjoy the sunset from the Grammont’s summit and enjoy that stunning view over the lake of Geneva.
The hike down will take you way less time. 1h for Grammont to Taney and 20-30 min to reach the parking lot.
Alternatively, if you come by train you will have to add part of the hike from Vouvry to the parking area or take a taxi.
